Your child is dividing up to three-digit numbers by two-digit divisors and interpreting remainders in context.

Explain it to my child

A remainder means there is something left after making equal groups. What to do with the remainder depends on the story: leftover people, partial groups, or a decimal/fraction amount.

Try it together

Use 95 counters or a smaller model first. Ask how many groups of 12 can be made and what is left. Then connect the physical groups to the written division.
