What they’re learning

Your child is learning what plants need to grow and how different plant structures help them survive. They observe changes over time and connect those changes to conditions such as light, water, air, nutrients, and space.

Explain it to my child

Plants are living things. Roots take in water, stems hold the plant up and move materials, leaves capture light, and flowers or cones can help plants reproduce.

Try it together

Grow two bean seeds in clear cups with damp paper towel. Keep conditions similar except for one safe variable, such as light. Record changes with simple drawings every day.
