Explain it to my child

When we regroup, we are not creating or losing value—we are trading equivalent amounts, such as 10 ones for 1 ten.

Try it together

Use a household receipt or make a pretend list of three prices in whole dollars. Add the total, then start with a budget and subtract to find what remains. Estimate first.
